(DM) and swipe left on the selected message and click on Hide.

How to Hide Instagram Conversations (DM)
- . When you receive a direct message, you will get push notification form Instagram. Do not click on it.
- Open Instagram and click on Instagram Direct message icon at top right corner.
- Instagram DM conversations will load. Do not open the message for which you want to hide the read receipt.
- Turn Off your Mobile data or WI-FI connection (Get disconnected from the Internet connection completely)
- Now, click and open the desired conversation to read the messages and at the same time you do not want to send an alert to the sender with Seen receipt. You will be able to see the messages.
- After that you need to log out of your Instagram account. Do not switch on the internet or Wi-Fi yet. You need to log out of your Instagram account without switching on your internet connection.
- To log out, come back to the news feeds i.e., Home screen and click on the profile option at the bottom right of the screen.
- Under your profile, there is a cog option click on that option (3 dots on Android) at the top right corner and click on Log Out.
- Now, switch on your Mobile connection or Wi-fi on your smartphone and log in to your account on the Instagram app.
How to hide Instagram conversation (DM)
Sender will not get Seen even though you have read the
message. You can continue using Instagram Direct Messages (DM) with other users
and still the user will not get the notification that you have viewed their
messages. But do not open the messages for which you wish to hide your seen. If
you do so, then the sender of the messages will get the seen receipt. In case,
they send more messages then follow the same above mentioned steps to read
their message without letting them know.

2-Tab Options in inbox for Professional Accounts
When you are using a Professional account, you will certainly
have access to an inbox that allows you to manage messages and control the notifications.
This Professional inbox has 2 Options: Primary and General.
Primary: The Primary Options is for messages you would like
to see first. All messages will appear under the Primary tab, but you can still
swipe them into the General tab. Notifications for unread messages are turned
on for the Primary tab option, but you can turn them off any time you want from
Settings.
General: The General option tab is for messages; you would
like to get back to later sometime. Notifications for unread messages are
turned off for the General option tab, but you can turn them on in Settings.
You can also see message requests in your in box any time
you want. Those message requests are direct messages from accounts that you do
not follow. You can decide to accept or reject these requests, and those
messages are not marked as “seen” until you accept them. If you click on All
Requests, you can select the top Requests to see your requests organized by
important accounts. You can also move accepted messages into the Primary or
General tabs as per your preference.
